No, David! – by David Shannon (1998)

No David

Another hilarious book to read with the small person in your life!

What do you do with a pre-schooler who just can’t stop being naughty? Why, you just keep yelling, “No, David!” Mr. Shannon has written and illustrated the story of his own young life as a child who got into absolutely everything. Even children who can’t read will be able to re-tell the story. The ending is very satisfying, as the mama tells her son she loves him. My granddaughter and I have read and laughed over this book dozens of times!

“No David” is a Caldecott Honor book.

Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus – by Mo Willems (2003)

Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus

Take a break from reading your own book, and read this Mo Willems book to a small child. It could be your own kid, your nephew, your niece, your grandchild, or a friend’s child. It only takes a few minutes to read, but you will be laughing and bonding with that little one!

It’s the delightful story of a pigeon who dreams of driving a school bus, and sees his chance when the bus driver goes on break. The pigeon begs and pleads, using every argument he can think of. You’ll laugh as you realize his words are the same ones we used as kids to get something we really, really wanted. Although the book was written for 2 to 6-year-olds, it makes folks of all ages feel good!
