There is little more precious than seeing a child talk to God. Last night, the kids at our church got together to pack up Christmas boxes for children in other countries who are living in poverty. For weeks they had been buying and bringing in things like warm socks, art supplies, candy, and toys. The youth leaders had sorted everything out and placed the items in rows of tubs. Then the kids, working in buddy teams, started filling each Christmas box with a mix of gifts for a little boy or girl. Some of the younger kids hadn’t yet mastered the art of packing, and had to choose something different that would fit. Eventually every box was full, but not too full.
When the packing was done, things quieted down. The kids sat down on the floor, pairs of buddies with boxes between them, and prayed for the child that would receive their box. It was an amazing sight to witness. I believe that God heard each prayer, and will match up those boxes with just the right child.
So today I am thanking God for adults who help our kids and grand-kids grow in their love for Jesus and their love for others.
