Art In Unexpected Places

Today I was in an assisted living building, and discovered that the folks that live there are having their own version of Artprize this month. In their huge dining room I found about 25 entries displayed. There were oil paintings, watercolors, sketches, textile crafts, and even a plant entry. Here are a few samples:

Love these baby sweaters! This is mostly a lost art now…

A living entry…

Another quilt…

I absolutely loved this collage, entitled: “The American Dream”. I tried every which way to get a picture with no lighting glare, but it was impossible. Many other entries were so full of glare from the huge windows and overhead fluorescent lights that I was unable to photograph them. But that did not diminish my enjoyment of finding these hidden gems of art.

Keep your eyes open for those off-the-beaten-path art displays!
