A husband and wife – Jim and Della – find themselves almost penniless at Christmastime. Each one searches diligently for a gift that will express their love and devotion for the other. In the end, the gift does not matter as much as the sacrifice required to buy it. The story is tied in with the Biblical account of the Magi (Wise Men) coming from the east to bring gifts to Jesus (Matthew chapter 2).
